This interview is about cutting edge weather sensors and data. It’s with Alex Kubicek, CEO of Understory (located in Madison, WI). If you like weather and startups, you should definitely listen to this.
Understory has developed its own distributed weather stations to measure weather conditions on the ground on a granular level. They can tell you details around wind, rain, hail and other weather data. And their sensors have no moving parts.
For example, they can tell you how many hail stones hit a city (yes, it can be in the trillions). I know, crazy. That data leads to valuable analytics for an insurance company determining the damage to the properties they’ve insured after a storm.
Here are some other things we talk about:
-What’s Alex’s best piece of advice?
-How do your weather stations work?
-How do you help insurance companies?
-What was your product market fit when you raised your first $2.1MM?
-How did you start Understory?
